Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemorated Amidst Dwindling Number of Survivors
On Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the nation honors the legacy of the attack that led the United States into World War II, with only 16 survivors remaining to share their stories of valor. Ceremonies across the country, including a notable event in Hawaii, marked the 83rd anniversary of the historic event. Flags were flown at half-staff in various states as a sign of respect for the heroes and victims of that tragic day. Notable gatherings included a wreath-laying ceremony and events hosted by local veterans. Among the honored was a 104-year-old veteran who returned to Hawaii to pay tribute to those lost in the attack. As the surviving heroes become fewer, their stories and experiences continue to inspire new generations.
