Severe Lake-Effect Snowstorm Hits Great Lakes Region, Triggering State of Emergency

A significant lake-effect snowstorm is impacting the Great Lakes region, with predictions of several feet of snow across many areas. A state of emergency has been declared in 11 counties in Western New York and much of the surrounding region due to the severe conditions that are expected to persist into next week. Snowfall projections indicate that some areas, particularly those north of Buffalo and in Jefferson County, could see accumulations of 4 to 5 feet. The National Weather Service has issued lake-effect snow warnings and winter storm advisories as travel restrictions and parking bans come into effect. As heavy snow accumulates, residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during this hazardous weather event.
