Concerns Rise Over Bird Flu in Pet Food Following Multiple Cat Deaths
The FDA has reported that more than a dozen cats have died or fallen ill due to bird flu contamination in raw pet food. In response to the H5N1 virus threats, pet food manufacturers are now required to consider High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in their food safety plans. Experts are urging pet owners to keep their animals away from sick or deceased wild birds as the contamination raises significant health concerns. A recent voluntary recall has been issued by Northwest Naturals as part of the efforts to mitigate these risks. The FDA continues to emphasize the importance of updating safety protocols to protect pets from potential exposure to the H5N1 virus.
