Significant Drop in RSV-related Hospitalizations and U.S. Infant Mortality

Recent evaluations show a remarkable decline in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) hospitalizations among infants, credited to new antibody treatments like nirsevimab and the introduction of preventive vaccines. Studies indicate that 72% of infants are now immunized against RSV, contributing to the effective reduction of severe infections and hospital admissions by up to 71%. Moreover, the U.S. has witnessed a notable drop in infant mortality rates, attributed in part to the availability of RSV shots. The latest findings suggest that these developments are significantly improving health outcomes for infants during the RSV season.
