Meta Unveils New VR Headset and AR Glasses at Connect 2024
At the Meta Connect 2024 event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced the new $299 Meta Quest 3S VR headset, aimed at making virtual reality more accessible. The headset promises to deliver a comparable experience to its predecessor, the Quest 3, while lowering the entry price for users. Alongside the VR headset, Meta also showcased their first prototype of augmented reality glasses, named Orion. These smart glasses are designed to offer a true AR experience, featuring a wireless computing unit and an impressive field of view. Although currently in the prototype stage, early hands-on impressions suggest a strong market interest. In addition, Meta highlighted the advancement of AI chatbot technology and other features aimed at enhancing the user experience in the metaverse. With the official release of the Quest 3S set for October 15, 2024, and ongoing developments in AR, Meta continues to push the boundaries of immersive technology.
