U.S. Department of Energy Advances AI Infrastructure Development
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has identified 16 federal sites across the country, including the NREL campus and Morgantown Federal Energy Lab, for the development of AI data centers and infrastructure. This initiative aims to utilize federal lands, such as those at Los Alamos, for fast-tracked construction of data centers, part of a broader strategy to expand AI technology capabilities. Energy Secretary has emphasized the importance of these projects, likening the AI development efforts to a new Manhattan Project. The DOE is set to progress on these plans, which include significant energy developments slated for completion by 2027.
