UN Warns of Catastrophic Global Warming and Climate Inaction
Recent UN reports have issued a stark warning regarding the state of global climate action, indicating that the world is on track for catastrophic warming of up to 3.1 degrees Celsius if immediate measures are not taken. Despite ongoing discussions about climate goals, nations have made virtually no progress towards limiting temperature rise to 1.5 degrees. The UN has declared that the current trajectory of greenhouse gas emissions continues to rise, leading to a significant emissions gap that must be addressed through unprecedented climate pledges. Without urgent action, the opportunity to meet the Paris Agreement targets may be lost within a few years, and the substantial risks posed by climate change are becoming increasingly apparent.
