Texas and Florida Take Legal Action Against Biden Administration Over Voter Citizenship Verification
Multiple states, particularly Texas and Florida, are intensifying their legal efforts against the Biden administration, alleging failures in verifying the citizenship status of registered voters. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed several lawsuits demanding data on noncitizen voters and accusing the administration of neglecting voter integrity measures. Similarly, Florida officials have expressed frustrations with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), claiming it has refused to assist in verifying the immigration statuses of voters, which they argue is crucial for maintaining fair elections. A coalition of 16 state attorneys general has also called on DHS to take action regarding citizenship verification. These legal actions emerge amid growing concerns over the integrity of voter rolls, as both states seek to prevent noncitizen voting and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
