UN Blacklists Israel and Russia for Sexual Violence During Conflicts
The United Nations has added both Israeli and Russian forces to its blacklist for sexual violence in conflict zones, marking the first time Israel has been included on this list. The UN reports that numerous cases of sexual violence, particularly involving Israeli forces against Palestinian detainees, have been documented. In response, Israel has announced its decision to sever all ties with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, accusing the organization of politicization and of placing it on the same list as groups like Hamas and ISIS. This action has sparked outrage from Israeli officials, who claim there is no valid basis for the inclusion. Meanwhile, the UN continues to face criticism for the rising instances of conflict-related sexual violence globally.
