Menards Reaches $4.25 Million Multistate Settlement Over Deceptive Rebate Advertising

Menards, a retail giant, has been involved in a multistate investigation leading to a significant settlement of $4.25 million over allegations of deceptive advertising related to its popular 11% rebate program. The settlement includes states like Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and Ohio, with each state receiving portions of the settlement. Wisconsin will receive $750,000 as part of its own settlement concerning price gouging and misleading rebate practices. Other states, including Minnesota, are also set to receive substantial amounts from the settlement, aimed at addressing false advertising claims and ensuring clearer terms for consumers. This resolution comes after states raised concerns about the advertising practices used during the COVID-19 pandemic, which were found to mislead consumers regarding pricing and rebate offerings.
