Zelenskyy Calls for Stronger European Defense and Unity at Davos Forum

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, urging Europe to bolster its defense capabilities amid increasing Russian aggression. He emphasized the need for a united defense policy and questioned the commitment of Europe and the United States to security in the region. Zelenskyy warned that without Ukraine, Europe stands little chance against a formidable Russian military which could deploy up to 1.5 million troops. His remarks also highlighted the necessity for Europe to increase military spending and to take an active role in any future peace negotiations, which he stated would require significant international support, potentially needing 200,000 allied troops. Throughout his speech, Zelenskyy challenged European leaders to assert themselves and develop a robust stance against threats, while also criticizing the unpredictability of U.S. support under President Trump.
