Public Confidence in U.S. Elections is Divided Ahead of Midterms
As the midterm elections approach, a new wave of polls reveals a shrinking partisan gap in confidence regarding the electoral process. About 60% of Americans express belief that the elections will be fair; however, confidence varies significantly between Democrats and Republicans. While Democrats retain a greater faith in election results, their trust is waning. A striking 70% of respondents doubt that former President Trump would accept a Republican defeat, raising concerns about the integrity and acceptance of the electoral outcomes. Notably, nearly half of voters are unsure whether their votes will be counted accurately, highlighting a pervasive sense of confusion and unease about voting access and election security.
