In a significant political shift, several members of the Bush family have crossed party lines to endorse Democrat James Talarico in the Texas Senate race. Neil Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush, and his daughter Barbara Bush, have both publicly supported Talarico, with Barbara even donating to his campaign. This move has raised eyebrows as it comes amidst criticism of the Republican candidate Ken Paxton, with Neil Bush expressing discontent towards him and the MAGA movement. The backing from the Bush family, known for its prominent Republican legacy, may signal a changing political landscape in Texas.
