Mass Hunger Strikes Erupt at ICE Facilities Over Harsh Conditions and Indefinite Detention
In a series of coordinated protests, detained immigrants, including a significant number of Russians, have initiated hunger strikes at various ICE facilities, notably in Georgia and Texas. The strikes are aimed at drawing attention to reports of mistreatment, poor living conditions, and inadequate medical care within these facilities. Protesters claim that ICE is failing to adhere to its own rules regarding detainee treatment. In Georgia, dozens of detainees began a mass hunger strike, a move echoed in Folkston where similar actions were reported. Some individuals, including four Russians, have faced solitary confinement as a result of their participation in the hunger strikes. The ongoing protests highlight the urgent calls for reform and the need for improvement in the treatment of individuals held in immigrant detention.
