Severe Winds and Fire Risks Cause Road Closures and Power Outages Across Colorado

In Colorado, strong winds have led to significant disruptions, including the closure of a 30-mile stretch of I-25 from Fort Collins to the Wyoming state line. Multiple semi trucks have been flipped by the gusts, prompting authorities to issue alerts regarding dangerous fire conditions and potential power outages. Over 2,600 Xcel customers in Boulder County are without power, while high winds and low humidity have increased fire danger across the Front Range and Eastern Plains. The National Weather Service has placed various areas under Red Flag warnings, as gusts are expected to reach up to 100 mph in the foothills. In addition, local school districts, including the Boulder Valley School District, have closed mountain schools in response to the ongoing extreme weather.
