Recent torrential rains and typhoon-related flooding in southern China have resulted in the escape of approximately 900 snakes from breeding farms, causing widespread panic among residents. Venomous species, including cobras, are now slithering through floodwaters, prompting emergency responses and medical safeguards for potential snakebites. With countless reports of snake sightings and bites, local authorities are racing to capture these escaped reptiles while boosting antivenom reserves in affected areas. The situation is further complicated by casualties from the floods, with at least 39 reported dead, as communities grapple with both the natural disaster and the emerging threat from the reptiles.
