Fatal Incidents and Closures on I-70 Due to Crashes and Fires
Multiple closures of the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel have resulted from a series of deadly multi-car crashes and vehicle fires. Tragically, at least one person and a dog have been reported dead following a crash that has also led to significant traffic disruptions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, with authorities implementing turnaround measures for westbound vehicles. Emergency crews are actively responding to multiple incidents, including the cleanup of hazardous materials and fuel spills, as well as managing vehicle fires that continue to pose risks. As responses to these incidents unfold, portions of I-70 remain closed, particularly between Silverthorne and the Eisenhower Tunnel.
