Changes in the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Amid DEI Controversies

The Trump administration continues to intensify its battle against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within federal contracting. The U.S. Department of Labor recently appointed Catherine Eschbach as the new director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), a position through which she plans to review contractor data and potentially reform existing affirmative action plans. This appointment comes as the agency faces mounting pressure to scrutinize federal contractors, with new policies targeting DEI efforts in the private sector as well. Eschbach, previously a Morgan Lewis attorney, is expected to lead the agency in revisiting previously submitted contractor files and promote compliance with Executive Order 11246, which could see significant rollbacks under her direction. As the situation develops, federal contractors must stay informed about the evolving landscape of compliance requirements.
