Scientists Warn of Multiple Asteroids on Potential Collision Course with Earth
Recent discoveries have revealed several asteroids with varying degrees of chance to impact Earth in the near future. Notably, an asteroid known as 2024 YR4, the size of a football pitch, has a 1-in-83 chance of colliding with Earth in 2032, triggering significant concern from astronomers. In addition to this, another sizable asteroid, described as being comparable to a 20-story building, is also on a possible trajectory toward Earth during the same timeframe. Despite the alarming size and potential impact, experts emphasize that the chances of a catastrophic collision remain relatively small, with other newly found asteroids showing slim probabilities of hitting Earth. NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) are closely monitoring these near-Earth objects to assess any potential threats and discuss possible defensive measures.
