Major Immigration Crackdown in Minnesota as Federal Agents Surge
The Department of Homeland Security has deployed over 2,000 ICE agents to Minnesota in what has been described as the largest immigration operation ever conducted in the state. This extensive operation comes amidst a fraud investigation concerning Somali immigrants and aims to arrest individuals identified as criminal illegal aliens, including murderers and sexual predators. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has been actively involved in the operation, visiting St. Paul and Minneapolis as federal agents ramp up enforcement efforts. As a result, more than 1,500 arrests have already been made in the Twin Cities. The surge in federal agents has drawn criticism from local officials and raised concerns about the impact on communities and immigration nonprofits in the area as the crackdown continues.
