Ethiopia Confirms First Outbreak of Deadly Marburg Virus
Ethiopia has officially confirmed its first outbreak of the Marburg virus, a disease related to Ebola, following the identification of nine infected individuals in the southern region specifically around Jinka. The World Health Organization (WHO), which has been deployed to assist in response efforts, has reported eight suspected cases of viral hemorrhagic fever linked to this outbreak that has already claimed six lives. As health officials work rapidly to contain the situation, the Africa CDC has emphasized the need for swift action to curb the potential spread of this deadly virus.
