Ethiopia has officially confirmed its first outbreak of the Marburg virus, a disease related to Ebola, following the identification of nine infected individuals in the southern region specifically around Jinka. The World Health Organization (WHO), which has been deployed to assist in response efforts, has reported eight suspected cases of viral hemorrhagic fever linked to this outbreak that has already claimed six lives.
