New Study Highlights Increased CTE Risk for Ice Hockey Players

A recent study has found that the risk of developing chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) significantly increases for ice hockey players with each year they participate in the sport. The research indicates that male players face a 34% higher likelihood of developing CTE for every additional year played, establishing a clear link between the duration of their careers and the risk of brain disease. Previous studies, including those from Boston University, have confirmed the presence of CTE in the brains of deceased hockey players, emphasizing the health concerns surrounding prolonged involvement in ice hockey.
