Recent studies reveal a concerning trend in states that have implemented abortion bans, showing a significant increase in infant mortality rates. Research indicates that not only have these bans led to higher rates of infant deaths, particularly impacting vulnerable populations, but they have also resulted in increased fertility rates and more births overall. States with such bans are experiencing infant mortality rates that exceed previous expectations, and the negative outcomes are disproportionately affecting Black infants. As the evidence mounts, the association between restrictive abortion laws and adverse health effects on infants prompts calls for urgent attention to the implications of these policies.
